Today, the “Our Boxes” theatre-in-education program was held at the Semmelweis University Raoul Wallenberg Multidisciplinary Vocational School, created as part of the “Time Traveler” Jewish local history program.
The aim of Our Boxes is to reconstruct the historical experiences of a minority group and to raise the moral dilemmas of the historical processes that eventually led to the Holocaust. The central questions of the theatrical performance are: What should we do with the decisions our family members made in the past? Do we bear any responsibility for the actions of our parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents?
This year, we are bringing the classroom program to 15 classes, reaching nearly 500 high school students. Today’s session was the 14th, and—just like in the previous ones—the students received it with remarkable openness despite the difficulty of the topic.
In December, the program’s interactive walking tour module will begin, and our goal is to make that accessible to as many high school students as possible as well!
